I am also a keynote and feature speaker and have done conferences and events at non-profits, performing Bipolar Badass and talking about the importance of de-stigmatizing Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
It has been a great way to begin a greater dialogue around the realities of mental illness. Something nearly everyone has had experience with in one way or another between relatives and personal struggles, but unfortunately is too stigmatized to speak so openly about. I love doing this work and have found that these performances are always followed by a strikingly open group dialogue about mental illness.
I do not have any rules or limits as to where I can perform the show. I’ve done it in a barn, huge florescent rooms, and Off-Broadway theaters. If you want to have Bipolar Badass at your space or a certain venue, I want to make it work with you.
If you are interested in having Bipolar Badass and/or a presentation on the realities of mental illness by someone who experiences the gravitas of mental illness themselves, please get in touch! Speaking rates vary.
“Bipolar Badass brings honesty and humor to what it's like to live with bipolar disorder--and its many public and media misconceptions. Mari captures the trial and error of diagnosis, the impact of mental illness on loved ones, and the importance of self-acceptance. A must see!”
